The Original Family used to call Mystic Falls their home and when Klaus found out about the Petrova Doppleganger, Elena Gilbert, he made it his home once again so that he could use her to break the Sun and Moon curse and also build himself an army of Hybrids. Only that didn't work according to plan, his human doppleganger was turned into a vampire and became useless to him.
His siblings, Elijah, Finn, Kol and Rebekah followed him and wreaked havoc on the small town. Finn and Kol were both killed and in the process they all learned that if you kill an Original, their entire bloodline of sired vampires dies with them.

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
The Original Family used to control the city of New Orleans and while they were there Klaus raised a young former slave named Marcel as his own, eventually turning him into a vampire. But for one reason or another Klaus and the others left the city and Marcel rose to power and fancies himself King of New Orleans. Marcel controls everything supernatural in the city and has banned witches from practicing magic in The Quarter. With the help of a powerful witch Devina, he monitors all activity.
Klaus has been lured back to New Orleans in a plot devised by the witches to bring an end to Marcel's control over the city and to win the war with the vampires. They will stop at nothing to try to keep the Original hybrid under control, even using his pregnant werewolf Hayley to do it. What they don't realize is that nobody controls Niklaus Mikaelson, they can only hope to survive him and he wants to regain control of New Orleans for himself.
Elijah and Rebekah have joined him but is it to help in his bid to take back their city? Or is it more an effort to keep him from causing total destruction?
