Summer vacations are over! Some enjoyed summer romances and parties at the beach while others enjoyed bearing the title of harbinger. Originals, vampires, and hybrids are no longer the only threats that Elena and the gang have to watch out for. In the time span of three months much has changed and not only in Mystic Falls, but in towns all over the world - Beacon Hills with a heavy magnitude.

Beacon Hills is suffering. Not only at the hands of supernaturals but now with the complete quarantine of the town. With the sacrifice of Scott, Stiles and Allison fully powering up the Nemeton they not only leveled it to it's full power, but freed the evil guarded within it. Along with the Nogitsune, the Croatoan virus that had been locked up by witches, with the help of Dean and Sam, had sealed within the tree had also been given freedom. In a plea to save those whom have not caught the virus, due to it's knowledge of the supernatural, Mystic Falls opened it's doors to the uninfected. However unaware that there are few with the virus dormant within them. Soon to awaken within them and taint the fresh airs of the small Mystic town.

But there is hope..

When Bonnie Bennett lift the veil, Qetsiyah managed to slip free and revive herself. Completely distorting the balance of life and crippling the thin wall between the dead and the living. Now the dead are rising from their graves with a second chance at life - a second chance at terror and havoc. Qetsiyah, having an agenda of her own, gave life to the Gilbert device once again. The same device that Emily Bennett had hexed to work once in order to weed out the towns vampires. It was given eternal life and superior strength. Able to harm any species. But most importantly, able to act as a compass to direct the blind towards those infected. It was intended to fall into the hands of Bonnie Bennett, but when spotted by Dr. Alan Deaton, the vet claimed it for his own. For a while, Deaton pondered before deciding to hand the device to Scott in full trust, even though the alpha was oblivious to the device's power. The task Deaton gave Scott? To bring the device to Mystic Falls and hang onto it at all times. Scott now holds the only hope Mystic Falls has to survive the virus, and everyone wants it.

Especially Dean and Sam. Though the Winchester brothers aren't completely aware about what the device now is, the two want it with the hopes of it helping vanquish vampires for good. What they also don't know is that the Originals are a whole new league of vampires. Ones whose death won't come any time soon without a white oak stake.

Meanwhile in New Orleans...

When the Originals are preoccupied with New Orleans and the situation of Marcel and Klaus constantly fighting to take over the city, Hayley carrying Klaus's child and the sudden return of the Elder witches; Genevieve and Bastiana. Celeste whom inhabits the body of Sabine, didn't die in this plot but succeeded in killing Davina. Celeste had revived Davina after her elders were back with the intentions of having the young witch serve her punishment for her misuse of such powerful magic from the harvest, alive. The elders want one thing - the Gilbert device as well. They want it so that the could seek their revenge on controlling the vampires in the city without always having to perform locator spells. With that device, that would leave out one of the two dictators of the city without a possible mass of followers. The elders come to one witch in mind to help them retrieve the device - Sophie Devereux. They know, especially Celeste, that Sophie& would do anything to have her niece, Monique, back alive. With that knowledge, they decide to propose a small deal for the retrieval of the device; they make a deal with Sophie, if she can bring the device to them, they will revive Monique.

What threat will the Winchesters hold to Elena and the gang? Or will the town of Mystic Falls propose a higher threat to the Winchesters? Who will be infected next? Will Sophie get the device for Monique to be resurrected? What other havoc can others propose? Will someone succeed in taking the device?
